Here I am, again, throwing my hat into the blogging game. Since this is my actual first post, I want to do something different from my other blog attempts and actually make a “manifesto” of what I want my blog to be about.

I chose the name Savage Beautys off the name of, as any fashion aficionado could tell you, the Alexander McQueen exhibit that was shown at the Museum Of Modern Art in New York City. I’m just a little girl from the South who loved to see his works, from a far, on the lucky actresses and socialites alike as they hit the red carpet in all their glory. But seeing his exhibit, it had a profound effect on how I viewed him, his works, and the world of fashion. Alexander McQueen’s aesthetics weren’t just of conventional beauty but of “conventional ugly”, as well.

“I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it.”— Alexander McQueen

So that’s what I would like this blog to be about, posts about what I find beautiful, what I find ugly, and what I find ugly in the beauty and what I find beautiful in the ugly.

On a personal level, though, the moniker “Savage Beauty” really struck a chord in me because I have always felt that even though I know how to do the hair, make up, etc; in my opinion, something is always off with me whatever I do. That’s my opinion, I’m not saying it to gain pity, I just happen to feel like an unruly little lion, regardless of what I do.

I wish I could just say I’m living the fabulous life here in New York City and post about the fabulous parties and friends I’ve met but I rather be truthful, it is, after all, hard being a starving actress. Honestly though, it’s all about reminding yourself, in the wise words of Snoop Dogg, “you got to pay the cost to be the boss.”

While not everything can be fairy tales or make believe, I do hope you join me on my adventures, all the ups & downs, smiles & frowns.
